About:
I became a pilot in 1990 and flew for fun for 25 years. In 2015 I decided to turn my passion into a second career and became a CFI in 2017 in addition to my regular job. After 30 years in the computer business; I took early retirement in 2020 and became a full-time flight instructor. Consequently; I am not a time-builder looking to move up to the airlines but a professional Flight Instructor dedicated to your success. I am a CFII and am actively doing instrument instruction. While I am an MEI; I am not actively flying multi-engine aircraft. I am also a factory-trained Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) and can help you with your Cirrus training.

About:
I started flying when I was 16 years of age and received my private pilots license SEL at 17 years of age. I went on to obtain my Airframe and Power plant license and decided I liked flying aircraft more than fixing them. I joined the U.S. Army in 1992 and retired in 2013 as a helicopter instructor pilot/instrument examiner with over 3;250 hours. During my time in the military I received my commercial instrument SEL and MEL as well as a military equivalency Helicopter CFI/II. After the military I took a non-flying job and unfortunately allowed my CFI to lapse. In 2016 I couldn't stand not flying and shook the rust off and applied to the airlines. I became a regional airline pilot and currently fly CRJ-700/900 aircraft as a Captain. I recently re-certified as a CFI/CFII. On my off time I am instructing in helicopters for a part 61 school.

I’m Mike Hodge and an Independent Certificated Flight Instructor based out of the Sheboygan Municipal Airport (KSBM). For a lot of instructors; the role of CFI is used as a stepping stone on the way to the airlines or charter operations. For myself; becoming a flight instructor has always been my dream. Ever since I was little I; like most aviators; had my head turned towards the sky with every plane that passed overhead. I wanted nothing more than to be up to in the air. At the age of 18; I obtained my Private Pilot Certificate and did some flying before life got in the way and grounded me for nearly 15 years. Once I took to the skies again I had a big realization. That as much as I enjoyed flying; teaching others to fly felt like something I would enjoy even more. To be able to take a student; help them achieve a lifelong dream while teaching them to be safe and risk-averse aviators would be far more fulfilling for me than to work for the airlines. So off towards that goal I we

I'm a current Instructor here at Scottsdale Flight Training located at Scottsdale Airpark. We train in Cessna 172s; including the N; K; and S models with G1000s avionics. We operate on a dry rate so the rental prices may be lower than other flight schools as this allows the pilot to fuel at other airports where fuel is cheaper and incentivizes proper leaning procedures.
